Whimsy 2012
We started the year with a bang – both Lovey and brother Murphy finished their American Championships on the same day in Albany, OR. Thanks to Linda Buchholz for her help and suggestion that we attend those shows. So they are now officially Am.Can.Ch.Whimsy’s Over the Moon and Am.Can.Ch.Whimsy’s Lovin’ Spoonful, PR. They join their brother Ch. Whimsy’s Play Me A Tune owned and shown by Hannah Nichols, junior extraordinaire.
Then a month later, Cruz finished, again in Albany, OR and is officially Am.Can.Ch.Whimsy’s Swiftsure Cruzan Gold. Cruz is co-bred/co-owned with Linda Buchholz.
Not to be outdone – sister Kai went to work on her field championship and finished the year as GCh.Can.Ch.Whimsy’s Swiftsure Kilo Kai, DPC, TRP, PR, Can.Fld.Ch.
Spring brought sorrow as well. We lost Am.Can.Ch.Morlais Imagine At Whimsy to cancer at the age of 11. And shortly before, our resident old man, Tyler (Whimsy’s Sweet Pea) left us at 14. They are truly missed and can never be replaced.
In May we welcomed a litter from Jamaica and Hokum – 9 little fawn/white and red/whites. They have all gone off to wonderful homes and come to visit on a regular basis. At the same time Chris & Chrissy’s Tyra (Chelsea Tyrendarra) went to her breeder for a litter. She returned in August with a lovely red/white son, Silas, Chelsea Goin’ Places, resides with C & C Downing.
The older pups from Bongo and Tyche are enjoying themselves both here and in California. They will be shown and run upon maturity. Alice lives with Christine, Miley with Kim White, and Dylan with the Richards.
All of our crew enjoyed showing, racing and coursing during the year. Hokum came away from the ring in Canada with 8 pts, and 13 pts. in AWC racing. Hokum is officially known as Serendipity Malarkey at Whimsy, TRP, PR. And Lovey finished the year as #5 CWA conformation dog.
Our old friend and fellow Whippet person passed away in November. Doris Ringer (Ringo Whippets) was the ‘because of it all’. She showed me the way and was always there as a friend and confidant.
We lost our dear old man Toby in Jan. 2013 and I’m sure he joined Truman, Tyler and Doris on the other side. Toby was Am.Can.Ch.Whimsy’s Speedwell and WD at the AWC National specialty in our home town of St.Louis, MO in ’99.
