Serendipity 2012
We had a blast in 2012! My keepers from my 2010 litter (AmCH Shamasan Hound Hill Cherokee, ARX, RN, PR-2 x CanCH Serendipity Skylark, AmFCH, TRPX, DPC, PR-2, SR, OTR) really hit the ground running in the spring. Seven (Serendipity Hark The Lark, ARX, DPCX, TRP, PR-2) quickly finished up her CWA Award of Racing Excellence and Dual Purpose Championship Excellent titles in the spring. After finishing those titles, she upped her game, running a grade A score for all but two meets for the rest of the year and often finishing in the Top-5 in big competitive meets in BC and CA. She was also a CWA match winner and placed consistently enough in the matches to finish in the year-end conformation Top-20.
Seven's brother Jonah (Serendipity On A Lark, TRP, PR-2) steadily improved his racing game and picked up his first ARX points in July 2012. He is a consistent contender in the ARX point hunt in big competitive BC meets, and improved from a grade C to a grade B racer by the end of the year. After finishing his sister's DPCX, I began to concentrate on showing Jonah in the CWA matches, and he quickly racked up 3 DPC legs to match his 3 ARX points.
Their brother Hokum (Serendipity Malarkey at Whimsy, PR), owned and loved by Mary Downing of Whimsy Whippets, also had a great year in the CWA program! Racking up 13 ARX points by the end of the year, he now just needs 2 points to finish his title! He was also a multiple match winner and finished just out of the year-end conformation Top-10 in 11th place.
Both Seven and Jonah made their lure coursing debuts in 2012. Jonah hit the field first, with an ASFA first placement his first time out and a very impressive five point major AKC Best in Field his first weekend running AKC! Seven has yet to make her AKC lure coursing debut but has all her placements and 65 points towards her ASFA field championship in very limited coursing.
Though we show very sparingly, only at specialties or supported entries, nevertheless we had a great year in the show ring. Lark (CanCH Serendipity Skylark, AmFCH, TRPX, DPC, PR-2, SR, OTR) made a rare appearance at the WWWA specialty in August, winning the big open bitch class and going on to RWB. Seven and Jonah made their show debuts at the LMWA specialty weekend in July. Seven placed in her open class in both specialties and was RWB at the Show 'n Go. Jonah, shown only at the Show 'n Go, was WD for his first 3 points his first and only time out in the show ring. But their brother Hokum was our real star in the show ring. Handled to perfection by his proud owner Mary Downing, he went RWD at the WWWA specialty (same show where his mother was RWB) and WD for 5 points at the LMWA specialty. He needs just 2 points to finish his Canadian Championship and is also pointed in the US.
With these youngsters turning three years old and hitting their competitive prime this coming spring, 2013 looks to be a promising year indeed!
