Brystal 2012

This year had several firsts for my kennel. I have only bred two litters, but as the stud was chosen for me in my 2007 litter, I feel like I have just one litter that is really mine. In 2009 Special Acres’ Wings of a Dove, JC was bred to Multi-BIF DC Can. Ch. Belaya CirqueDuSoleil SC, NA, NAJ, FCh, CGC with his lovely long list of accomplishments. From this litter, my kennel has its firsts. First bench champion – Ch Brystal Mists of the Deep (aka “Figg”) finished with a 4 point win in February 2012 in Albany, handled by Dixie Rae. She is owned and loved by Jeff and Judy Childs. Figg’s brother Brystal Gallantly Streaming (aka “Cobalt”) was the first in my kennel to beat out 41 other whippets in Canadian Lure Coursing in July 2012 to take 40 points and Best of Breed. He has also accrued 8 ARX points in CWA racing and gained 1 CWA conformation point. He is co-owned with Clinton Draper in Vancouver, BC. Thus, it was also my first year driving up to Canada (lots) in all kinds of weather and wondering about my sanity.

My kennel namesake, Brystal is getting up there in years – she is 13 now and her eyesight is dimming but she is the reason I embarked on this great and mysterious journey of whippet breeding, showing and athletics. There is nothing like the first.
