2018 Northwest Versatility Weekend
The 17th annual Northwest Versatility Weekend, co-hosted by WWWA and SWEPT, will be held at the Tacoma Polo Club field in Roy, WA over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, 2018. This event is a showcase of the versatility of our wonderful whippets and the other sighthound breeds, with performance events for everyone!
Important changes to the Versatility Weekend this year: there will be no conformation match, and the ASFA trial will be hosted by SWEPT instead of WWWA. Versatility awards will still be awarded based on overall performance over the three events. Thank you to SWEPT for stepping up to help preserve this beloved event!
- Saturday is straight racing – WRA for whippets and LGRA for other breeds. We are also offering Sprinter Racing SATURDAY ONLY for WRA ineligible whippets – DQs OK, no measuring, no registration requirement. Division II racing will be available for whippets as well.
- Sunday is all-breed NOTRA oval racing.
- Monday is ASFA lure coursing, with judges Mary Ellen Chaffin of Renton, WA and Beth Levine of Monroe, WA. At the end of the day on Monday, Versatility awards will be conferred to the top ranked hound in each breed who completes all three events.
- Other fun stuff: potluck lunches with prizes for best dish, vendors, and practice opportunities on Saturday and Sunday as time, weather and volunteers permit.
We need volunteers to help with a wide variety of jobs. You don’t have to be an expert to help out! We would love to help you learn the ropes, and there are plenty of non-running-related duties to help with.
Premium list, entry forms and more information about the Versatility Weekend can be found on the event page.
